When you accomplish a childhood dream is like having a million stars exploding inside you. They shine everywhere. Your eyes, your words, your soul. I can’t tell you how happy I am to reveal you that I accomplished mine.
I worked for 4 years on this book. It was such a hard, lonely work. I can’t count the hours I spent in cafés, writing and re-writing, deleting and thinking. Even though at time it has been soul-wrecking, I loved every minute of it. It has been like living a second life, knowing people who only existed in my mind yet were so real. They are real.
Let me introduce you my very first novel: ‘Da qualche parte nel mondo’ (Somewhere in the world) that will be published on the 17th September, in one week.
Yes, at the moment it is just in Italian, but I strongly hope it will be translated.
It’s the coming of age story of Lara, a girl who comes from a highly dysfunctional family. Her best friend, Elena, is her opposite: while Lara is introvert and fragile, Elena is totally positive and happy-go-lucky. When Lara chooses to pursue her career as an artist in London, Elena is the only one who pushes her and believes she is making the right choice. But soon something comes into Lara’s way, making her questioning all what she believed in, and all what she believed to be.
The book theme is trust. Can we really trust the people we love but, above all, can we really trust ourselves?
I wish I could tell you how beautiful and scary it was to write this book. How many times I thought I couldn’t make it. But it’s here now. I couldn’t be happier and terrified.
Before you ask: no, unfortunately it is not translated in English yet. I really hope it will be!
If you can read Italian you will find it on Amazon, the ebook version is ready for pre-orders while for the book you’ll have to wait until the 17th. The hashtag is #daqualchepartenelmondo
