Kenwood House is an incredibly beautiful villa of the XVII century, preserved in excellent conditions and with a stunning painting collection and a wonderful library.
But there are many more reason to visit it, and here they are.
First: how to get there.
You’ll get there in the best way possible: by discovering Hampstead – here my guide – one of the loveliest neighbors in London. Once you reach Hampstead tube station on the Northern Line, you can choose to walk till Kenwood House or to take the 210 bus from Jack Straw Castle. The first option in my opinion is the best. It’s a 20-30 mins walk in one of the most beautiful London parks, Hampstead Heath. What’s better than that?
What to do in Kenwood House?
If the house is open to visitors – it isn’t always so – please do take time to have a tour around its beautiful interiors. The architecture is stunning and the library will leave you speachless.
There is a lovely café that looks it came straight out of a fairy book. It’s flowery and green, little wooden tables and delicious food served hot or cold.
Have I mentioned the cake section? Well, have a look and a taste, it’s just amazing.
And in spring and summer time you also find an ice cream shack.
A picnic though is the best option to enjoy the view of the villa and its grounds. This means you’ll sit on a velvety green grass facing a pond while having the beautiful villa at your back – or viceversa – can’t imagine of a better picnic scenery.
Pick on your calendar a date around late May and you may find the beauty of the garden in bloom. Just have a look at these pics! Heaven!
Concerti e spettacoli.
In spring and summer the park in front of Kenwood House hosts concerts and shows. Check the official site for more info.
