Secret London: God’s Own Junkyard

Yesterday we went to Walthamstow. This area in East London is slowly starting to become hip and trendy, still has a decent value for money when it comes to houses, that’s why many people are keeping an eye on it (and/or moving here).

I went to explore it, as I usually love to do with London areas I still don’t know. As all the rising area it still has some scruffy bits but it is a really nice place, with a cool vibe and a few fancy shops and bars. I especially loved the village, an historical conservation square with some very ancient houses perfectly restored. A little jewel.

Then, out of the blue, I discovered a magical place…

Actually I had heard about it before but never had the chance to visit it. I’m talking about God’s Own Junkyard.Gods Own Junkyard London neon signsGods Own Junkyard London neon signsGods Own Junkyard London neon signsGods Own Junkyard London neon signs Gods Own Junkyard London neon signs Gods Own Junkyard London neon signs  Gods Own Junkyard London neon signs

It is a neon sign shop with amazing handmade pieces. I know, I know the same artist sells his creations at Selfridge’s (and this year also made a few windows) but this place, THIS place has such an amazing atmosphere. And there’s a café too! I had a tea and a cake with Viola surrounded by flashing hearts and sparkly letters.
